Echoes of Care in Silent Roots

An Arduino-powered sculpture merging art, science, and empathy to transform plant care into a symbiotic dialogue.

Axis

n. a line about which a body rotates,
the body of work’s conceptual anchor

This project unveiled the interplay between care and connection, dissolving the boundary between human and non-human systems. By giving plants a voice through data and art, it redefined how we perceive our relationship to the living world, fostering a deeper sense of empathy and interconnectedness.

In the symphony of soil and air, a silent kinship unfolds—a luminous exchange between the rooted and the reaching, where life whispers to life across unseen threads of sensation.

Articulation

n. a expression
the shaping of form

Using an Arduino microcontroller and conductive brass rods, this freeform sculpture collects data on soil moisture, ambient sound, temperature, and humidity. Outputs include LEDs, prerecorded sayings, and songs, forming a poetic feedback loop. The design celebrates the visible circuitry, blending analog craftsmanship with digital technology to create an elegant, interactive form.
