Celestial Bodies in Earthly, Geologic Forms

A sculptural exploration of the moon’s creation, reframing humanity’s connection to celestial and terrestrial origins.

Axis

n. a line about which a body rotates,
the body of work’s conceptual anchor

This project revealed the intimate parallels between the human body and the celestial. By weaving mythologies with astronomy, Os reframes creation as a dialogue between terrestrial and cosmic forces, inviting contemplation of our profound interconnectedness across time and space.

In the arc of creation’s story, the moon rises from Earth’s fracture—an echo of Eve born of rib, carved from flesh and stone. where stone and sky entwine to reflect our shared cosmic ancestry.

Articulation

n. a expression
the shaping of form

Crafted from Japanese alabaster and lightning-struck basalt, Os embodies the interplay of chaos and order. The alabaster’s soft translucency evokes human flesh and bone, while the rugged basalt mirrors the moon’s craters. Each piece was carved and assembled through an iterative process that embraced the natural qualities of the materials, reflecting geologic and mythological narratives.
